Rackley Swimming, part of City Venue Management, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head Coach with the necessary skills to support and develop a squad program catering to swimmers of all levels, from school to club competition.
This position will be based at Northern Beaches Leisure Centre in Townsville, Queensland. The hours are 25-30 per week, depending on squad growth, with the potential to become full-time. There are also opportunities for additional shifts in Swim School, Customer Service, or Lifeguard roles. This role offers a unique chance to join the Rackley swimming coaching team in an organization committed to developing the sport and supporting performance pathways.
The facility features an 8-lane, 50-meter pool, and a shaded teaching pool. The program includes swimmers from junior squad levels up to national levels, who are part of the Lightning Swim Club.
About Rackley Swimming & City Venue Management:
City Venue Management (CVM) operates aquatic centres, swim schools, coaching programs, and health clubs across Queensland and New South Wales. We run competitive squad programs in 17 locations, with Townsville as our newest. Our focus is on supporting coaches to develop world-class training environments, guided by principles of coach-driven excellence, athlete development, and community support.
About the Role:
The Head Coach will design and deliver comprehensive training programs for squad swimmers. Key responsibilities include:
* Program Design and Implementation: Planning, executing, and evaluating training programs tailored to swimmers' needs across skill levels.
* Swimmer Development: Creating a positive environment, encouraging progress, and facilitating transitions between learn-to-swim and squad levels.
* Teamwork and Collaboration: Working with facility staff and other coaches to ensure consistent, high-quality coaching.
* Community Engagement: Promoting club participation and supporting swimmers in competitions at various levels.
* Communication: Maintaining positive relationships with team members, swimmers, parents, and the community.
* Commercial Skills: Managing resources effectively, including budgeting and financial reporting, and utilizing relevant software.
* Professional Development: Committing to ongoing professional growth and skill enhancement in aquatics coaching.
Essential Qualifications include:
* ASCTA Development Coach accreditation
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
* Current First Aid and CPR certifications
* Current Pool Lifeguard certification
* Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification (desirable)
