The Opportunity: The Estimator role will involve utilising your strong background in structural fabrication. In this key role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, including materials, labour, and time, to provide precise and competitive estimates for structural fabrication projects. Your expertise will be vital in supporting project planning, ensuring cost-effective solutions, and helping our team meet client expectations while maintaining high standards of quality. Key responsibilities include: Preparing detailed cost estimates for fabrication projects including materials, labour & equipment Working with clients to provide practical and cost-effective solutions Attending sites to understand project requirements. Gathering information to enable solutions and estimates to be developed Preparing estimates and solutions from first principles Negotiating and confirming prices and rates with sub-contractors and suppliers Determining and assessing any financial, technical, or execution risks of the project Working closely with our workshop and site teams to ensure effective handover and execution to meet client expectations The successful applicant will have: Engineering qualification with practical skills or trade background Excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with people on all levels Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritise tasks Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel Extensive experience in a steel fabrication workshop environment Ability to interpret technical drawings Attention to detail and accuracy and a can-do attitude Autodesk Inventor experience would be advantageous but not essential Strong work ethic. High level of customer attention Exposure to bulk material handling plant and equipment estimating highly desirable Self-motivated and ability to work unsupervised Experience in Project Management would be highly desirable.
