We are seeking a highly experienced stakeholder engagement professional to lead a team working to enable individuals, groups and reef dependant industries (primarily the marine tourism industry) with various motivations and levels of capacity, to achieve positive environmental outcomes for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. This executive level role is focused on establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial partnerships, and strategic relationships which foster stewardship and collaboration. The Reef Authority is focused on empowering people to take action by building the capacity of others to be active stewards of the Great Barrier Reef. This position and the team it leads, will influence and empower others to support actions and activities that build resilience. It seeks to position community and industry to protect and conserve the Great Barrier Reef as world-leading examples of reef stewardship and environmental best practice. The key duties of the position include To provide executive level leadership to reef engagement and environmental stewardship programs, High Standard Tourism Operators, Master Reef Guides, Eye on the Reef and cross agency initiatives that support the Reef Authority's vision of individuals, industries and communities being aware of the challenges facing the Reef, participating in efforts to protect it, and inspiring intergenerational change. Provide expert and authoritative advice on stakeholder engagement and Reef stewardship partnership programs, strategies and emerging issues to support the strategic direction of the Reef Authority. Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic, tactical and operational stakeholder engagement through reef stewardship plans, programs, projects and initiatives that align with the Reef Authority's corporate objectives. Plan and lead the implementation of integrated stakeholder engagement programs and initiatives to empower people to be part of the solution, fostering partnerships for action and innovation that improve and enhance the perceptions and reef stewardship actions of stakeholders and communities. Initiate, establish and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Represent and negotiate on behalf of the Reef Authority to advance its interests in cross-agency, inter-jurisdictional, national, and international forums. Engage and manage stakeholders through change, resolving conflict and managing sensitivities. Support the Director collaboratively with the Reef Education and Engagement Implementation Plan and more broadly the Reef Education and Engagement Section priority tasks and initiatives.
