The Wadeye Safe House is located in the small coastal community of Wadeye 420kms from Darwin. About the role:
The position works with individuals and communities to eliminate, prevent and respond to domestic and family and sexual violence by:
* Working closely with the Wadeye Safe House team to provide support to clients at critical times, including intake and exiting the service.
* Working closely with local agencies, including government and non-government service providers. Working closely with community members and local and trusted elders to seek local solutions and support initiatives aimed at reducing domestic, family and sexual violence in the community.

Selection criteria:
Essential
* Relevant qualification in community services, community development, and/or social work. Due to the remoteness and complexity of this role, it will not be suitable for new graduates
* Previous experience (minimum 2 years) working in remote Aboriginal communities
* Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by victims of domestic, family and sexual violence
* Demonstrated crisis management experience
* Proven written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Proven history of developing and maintaining productive working relationships with key external stake holders and referrers
* Effective organisational and time management skills
* Sound IT skills including use of database and data reporting programs
Desirable
* Previous experience in a similar role
* Experience with SHIP online case management system
Requirements/Qualifications:
* Valid National Police Clearance certificate (not older than 6 months from date of issue)
* Valid and current NT working with children check (Ochre card)
* Current 'C' class Driver's Licence
* Relevant qualification in community services, community development, and/or social work
