We're looking for a Design Technologist to expand our prototyping capabilities through your coding and design expertise, helping us craft exceptional product experiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape how we bring ideas to life, collaborate with customers, and evolve our Design System and front-end best practices.What you'll doReport to an Australia-based manager within the Design team, leading prototyping efforts.Partner with designers to create high-fidelity, functional prototypes across all design phases, from concept to user testing and final development.Refine and improve prototypes, explore efficient prototyping methods, and champion front-end best practices.Collaborate with research teams to ensure prototypes meet user research objectives.Mentor other designers on advanced prototyping techniques and best practices.Contribute to defining and creating new patterns for our Design System, ensuring consistency and scalability.Advocate for exceptional product experiences, ensuring prototypes effectively demonstrate and validate these experiences.What you'll bringProficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS (Tailwind CSS), and JavaScript, with a focus on responsive design and accessibility (WCAG).A portfolio demonstrating the ability to build scalable, modular applications using component-based architectures like Next.js/React.Experience with modern build tools (e.g., Vite, Babel, ESLint, Prettier), version control (Git/GitHub), and deployment.Experience working with design tokens and Figma for design specifications.Experience documenting technical assets like boilerplates.A portfolio showcasing both design and technical work.Why Xero?We offer generous paid leave, dedicated mental health and wellbeing leave, Employee Assistance Program, health and life insurance, income protection, wellbeing programs, employee resource groups, 26 weeks of paid parental leave, an Employee Share Plan, flexible working, career development, and more—reflecting our commitment to our people.
