Neo‐bionica is shaping the future of implantable medical devices and neuro-technologies. We are now searching for a Principal Consultant – Mechanical Engineering: a technical leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering excellence, medical device development, and meaningful human impact.
About the Role
This is a senior, hands‐on technical leadership position responsible for guiding medical device product development engineering strategy across complex, multidisciplinary projects. You will work closely with our customers to design, develop, and deliver next‐generation neurotechnology and implantable medical devices.
You will be a trusted expert—someone who can lead teams, set direction, solve difficult engineering problems, mentor others, and represent neo‐bionica's technical capability with confidence and clarity.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead technical l engineering design
* Provide expert technical guidance across concept development, prototyping, verification, and fabrication.
* Mentor and support engineers, fostering a culture of high technical standards and continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with cross‐functional teams to ensure project outcomes are delivered effectively
* Partner with program manager to engage with clients as a senior technical advisor, shaping project scope and ensuring engineering excellence.
* Drive risk management, design controls, and compliance with relevant medical device standards (e.g., ISO 13485, ISO 14971).
* Contribute to strategic capability development within neo‐bionica's engineering function.
About You
You are an engineering leader with deep experience in medical or implantable device development and a passion for solving complex problems that improve lives. You bring a balance of technical depth, and practical execution, with a track record of leading technical teams.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
* Extensive experience in mechanical design for medical devices, ideally implantable or wearable systems.
* Strong understanding of risk management, design controls, verification/validation, and regulated product development.
* Expertise in materials, mechanisms, microfabrication, or precision engineering.
* Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and deliver high‐quality engineering outcomes.
* A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in advancing neurotechnology and human‐centred innovation.
* Work on technologies that will define the next generation of neural interfaces and implantable devices.
