General Manager Member Engagement and Technical Services Animal Health Australia (AHA) is the trusted and independent national animal health body in Australia, bringing together government and industry to deliver animal health and biosecurity projects and outcomes. We work with our members to identify threats and opportunities, drive collaborative solutions, and advocate for the long-term success of Australia's livestock industries and biosecurity system.
About The Role Reporting to the CEO, the GM METS will be responsible for driving AHA's strategic initiatives in Biosecurity, Emergency Animal Disease (EAD) Training, Member Engagement, and technical projects that support national preparedness and response capability. This role will oversee the development and implementation of programs that support our members' needs and enhance Australia's livestock biosecurity system.
Key Responsibilities: Support the CEO in the development of the Strategic Plan and leading the effective execution of the plan. Provide leadership and direction in the development, implementation and effective execution of the annual operating plan as it aligns with the strategic priorities for Member Engagement and Technical Services. Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of Biosecurity, Training, Member Engagement, and Technical Services programs. Develop and implement strategies to increase member engagement and satisfaction. Lead conversations with members and other stakeholders on emergency preparedness, animal health, and biosecurity matters. Represent AHA in industry forums, seminars, and conferences. Ensure projects follow AHA's project management methodologies and requirements. Lead the team to deliver high-value results for members in areas such as animal biosecurity initiatives and emergency animal disease response projects. Skills and Experience: Tertiary qualifications in Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Project Management, Economics, or a related discipline. Substantial knowledge and experience in Australia's animal biosecurity system, agricultural industries, or related industries in a similar senior leadership position. Proven ability to build rapport, influence, and negotiate with senior industry representatives and government representatives. Demonstrated expertise in leading high-performing member-centric teams. Exceptional listening and communication skills. Advanced project management skills and experience, including financial and budget management. Ability to distil complex scientific information into plain English suitable for a non-technical audience. Experienced in managing and chairing high-level committees. Why Join Us?
