We are currently looking for a Lead Software Developer in Production Technology, combining strong technical expertise with leadership. In this role, you will balance hands‐on development with leading project teams, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, on time, and aligned with project goals.
The Lead Software Developer acts as a key point of contact between stakeholders, artists, and technical teams, helping define project requirements, coordinate work, and support the team to succeed. This role focusses on being a trusted contributor who takes ownership of tasks, solves complex problems, and helps maintain best practices across the department while mentoring more junior developers.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate software development work to ensure quality, scope, and timelines are met
* Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and project goals
* Break down work into clear, trackable tasks for the team
* Participate as technical lead in scrum rituals such as daily stand‐ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
* Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
* Monitor progress and communicate updates, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders
* Proactively identify and resolve technical or project challenges
* Ensure development standards, documentation, and best practices are followed
* Contribute to a positive team culture and support the growth of junior developers
Required Skills and Experience
* Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, or similar)
* Experience designing, developing, and maintaining tools, systems, or pipelines in a complex technical environment
* Solid understanding of software engineering best practices including testing, documentation, and code reviews
* Experience using version control systems (e.g. Git) and collaborative development workflows
* Strong problem‐solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimise production systems
* Experience leading projects or providing technical guidance to other developers
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‐technical stakeholders
* Experience mentoring or supporting junior developers
* Ability to estimate work, prioritise tasks, and deliver to deadlines
* A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement and team success
