* Sydney based role / Temporary (up to January 2028)
* Public Service Senior Executive (PSSE) Band 1 with a total remuneration package starting at $247,865

The Hospitality and Racing division within the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS), which includes Liquor & Gaming NSW and the Office of Responsible Gambling, plays a critical role in fostering a safe, responsible, and thriving environment for liquor and gaming venues, racing and wagering industries, and safer gambling initiatives across NSW. We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking leader to join our executive team as Director, Intelligence and Customer Interface. This role is ideal for a senior professional who can turn complex information and intelligence into clear insights and ensure public and industry interactions meaningfully inform regulatory action and meet citizen expectations.

About the role

As Director Intelligence and Customer Interface you will provide strategic leadership across intelligence, assessment and customer interface functions that support proactive, risk-based regulation.

You will lead the design and delivery of intelligence systems, analytics and methodologies that identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities across regulated industries.

You'll oversee Liquor & Gaming NSW's customer interface, assessment and triage functions, ensuring enquiries, complaints and public reports are managed efficiently, fairly and consistently.

You'll ensure complex intelligence and data are translated into actionable advice to inform regulatory planning, enforcement priorities and executive decision making and drive integration between intelligence, customer insights and operational teams to strengthen regulatory outcomes.

You will lead and develop highly skilled teams and build strong partnerships across government and with external stakeholders to enable data sharing and coordinated responses.

About you

You are an accomplished senior leader with extensive experience leading intelligence, analytics or insights functions in complex regulatory, compliance or policy environments. You will have experience in overseeing robust triage and assessments frameworks for regulatory reports, to ensure agency resources are dedicated to responding to the conduct or entities that present the greatest risk of harm to the community.

You bring a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, public sector governance and evidence-based decision making and have demonstrated expertise in contemporary intelligence and analytics tools, methodologies and emerging technologies.

You have the proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate technical information into clear strategic advice along with a commitment to customer focused public service, integrity and high performance.
