Job Description
This is a remote position.
This role is responsible for managing the company's tax compliance and planning activities in accordance with Australian taxation laws and regulations. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Australian tax frameworks, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to managing risk and ensuring compliance.
Core Responsibilities
* Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, FBT, payroll tax, and income tax returns in compliance with ATO regulations.
* Manage CGT calculations, including asset disposals, restructures, and trust-related transactions.
* Oversee UPE arrangements and ensure compliance with Division 7A and relevant ATO guidelines.
* Prepare tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for financial reporting purposes.
* Provide proactive tax planning and advisory support for business transactions and strategic decisions.
* Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies, including managing audits and reviews.
* Assist with year-end financial audits and coordinate with external auditors.
* Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks while optimizing available tax opportunities.
* Monitor changes in Australian tax legislation and evaluate their impact on the organization.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or CA qualification (completed or in progress) preferred.
* Minimum of 6 years' solid Australian Tax Accounting experience, covering BAS, IAS, FBT, payroll tax, and income tax compliance.
* Strong technical expertise in CGT, trust taxation, UPE, and Division 7A, with the ability to apply complex tax legislation in practical scenarios.
* Proven experience preparing tax provisions and deferred tax calculations and supporting year-end financial audits.
* Demonstrated experience liaising with the ATO, including handling audits, reviews, and regulatory correspondence.
* Ambitious, strong-willed, and results-oriented, with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
