We're looking for a positive, people-focused Career Medical Officer (CMO) to join the Dubbo Private Hospital team. As the Hospital's CMO you will be responsible for providing high quality general medical care to patients, under the supervision of our Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs). You will undertake your role in a professional manner, promoting private health care through positive relations, interactions and actions.

Dubbo Private is a busy, multi-service facility, offering a variety of workplace experiences in a private hospital setting. Your duties and responsibilities will include assessing, planning and implementing patient care plans; reporting and paperwork as relevant to your role; completing regular, ongoing mandatory education and training; working as part of a professional, multi-disciplinary team; and maintaining compliance with all relevant Healthe Care policies and practices.
Essential Criteria
* Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA
* Demonstrated clinical and procedural experience to undertake the roles required of an CMO
* Capacity to work on a rotating roster and on-call basis
* Ability to work with minimum supervision and prioritise workload
* Demonstrated professional communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively, as a team member, in a multidisciplinary environment
* Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
Desirable Criteria
* Previous experience in a similar role within a private hospital setting
* Fully Immunised with Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
Duties & Responsibilities
* Ensure a detailed history and physical examination has been completed for patients at the request of VMO or Nurse Unit Manager
* Document findings in the medical record and communicate with VMO as appropriate
* Investigations
* Prescribe drugs and treatment
* Receive from responsible medical officer and provide responsible medical officer detailed handover of relevant patients at the commencement and end of each shift
* Together with the rest of the clinical team initiate discharge plan on day 1 and review daily
* Review each patient as requested by VMO, patient or nursing staff
* Medical Emergency calls
* Assist with arrangements, including documentation, for transfer of patients to Dubbo Base Hospital
* Liaise with General Practitioner and VMO as appropriate
* Counsel patients and relatives as appropriate
* Complete consultation requests for Allied Health and other medical specialties
* Only carry out procedures within capabilities
* Arrange discharge medications, in advance, if required
* In the event of death, complete documentation required at the time of death, including death certificate or referral to Coroner as requested by admitting doctor
* Complete notifiable disease forms and adverse drug reaction reports as appropriate
* Participate in unit and Hospital meetings where required
Principal Procedural Skills
* Venipuncture and cannulation
* Airway management
* Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
* Defibrillation
* Intramuscular injections
* Safe and appropriate use of IV drugs, blood products and IV fluids
* Bandaging, suturing and wound care
* Intra-gastric tube insertion
* Bladder catheterisation not requiring instrumentation
