Position Profile
The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is seeking an experienced
Technical Operations Manager – Reactive Maintenance
to lead and coordinate the repair and servicing of biomedical equipment, technology, and instrumentation across Perth Children's Hospital and Neonatology. Together with your team, you will ensure equipment remains safe, functional, and reliable - supporting clinical excellence, including critical environments such as theatres, Paediatric Intensive Care, and the Newborn Emergency Transport Service (NETS).
Reporting to the Director of the Medical Technology Management Unit, you will develop and implement RM schedules, manage vendor relationships, and deliver timely, effective, and compliant technical services. You also play a key role in embedding sustainable improvements, driving data-informed decision-making to optimise equipment performance, and championing best practice in reliability engineering in collaboration with quality and preventative maintenance teams.
Your ability to collaborate with clinicians, vendors, technical teams and leaders across CAHS will be key in solving complex problems and achieving shared goals.
Key Responsibilities
Overseeing vendor engagement, contracts, and service delivery for specialised repairs and maintenance.
Ensuring high standards of safety, compliance, and quality assurance in accordance with legislation, standards, and best practice.
Managing and maintain asset systems, ensuring accuracy of equipment data and supporting evidence-based decision making.
Providing expert technical advice to CAHS leadership, including on operational policy, clinical engineering practices, and equipment replacement strategies.
Supporting clinical care delivery by analysing equipment performance, identifying risks, and implementing improvement strategies.
Providing technical mentoring and training to staff across MTMU, building capability and fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

About Our Team
The Medical Equipment Management Unit provides specialised engineering and technical support for a wide range of biomedical and diagnostic devices. We ensure the availability, safety, and regulatory compliance of equipment throughout its lifecycle, supported by a robust quality assurance framework.
We work closely with clinical teams to integrate medical technologies into care workflows, with a strong focus on the unique and specialised needs of paediatric patients. This includes supporting the custom design, modification, and integration of biomedical and clinical ICT systems.
To support continued excellence, we provide access to specialised equipment for clinical research and innovation, and actively build the capability of clinical and technical staff through training and education to ensure the safe and effective use of medical equipment.
