Role
Athena Service Delivery Manager is responsible for the delivery and support of the Athena modelling tool and suite of evolving modules within the Athena Program Office (APO). This includes planning, implementation, control and review of system availability and support via service level agreements to ensure reliable and effective operations while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders within and external to the Department of Defence.
Athena is a workforce modelling simulation tool that supports decision making to ensure our military workforce is designed to be affordable, achievable, sustainable and integrated. It is Australian‑owned Intellectual Property, developed in consultation with Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) and academia, with funding and developing interest from external parties including Allied Military Forces.
About our Team
This APO sits within Military Workforce Design Division (MWDD). Reporting to the new Athena Governance Manager (ADF Reservist 1* Officer) role, the team comprises the Athena Product Manager (EL 2), a Helpdesk Support Officer (APS Level 6) and a Training Development Officer (APS Level 6). The role works closely with teams within MWDD, DSTG and academia, and external parties nationally and internationally, requiring extensive and continual broad stakeholder engagement.
Ideal Candidate
You will be an experienced ICT Service Manager who can demonstrate a good understanding of ICT technology, infrastructure and service management principles and frameworks. You will need to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a complex environment, proactively manage risk, and communicate and build relations with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders at all levels, while delivering exceptional service.
The Athena suite of tools is a critical enabler to ensuring the ADF has the workforce it needs. Your drive and enthusiasm to contribute to ongoing enhancement and service delivery of Athena, and your ability to prioritise, problem‑solve, navigate multiple complexities and work cohesively alongside a broad range of stakeholders and requirements is essential to your performance in the role, the team and the success of the Program.

Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
