English Tutor – High-Level Comprehension Essential (Casual)

Taggart Tutors is seeking a high-calibre English Tutor to join our team on a casual basis. This role requires advanced English comprehension skills and the ability to work confidently with younger learners while also supporting high school students.
We are seeking someone academically strong, articulate, and capable of delivering structured, explicit English instruction within a professional learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver structured English tuition in small workshop sessions
* Explicitly teach reading comprehension, writing structure and analytical thinking
* Support students from upper primary through to junior high school (up to Year 10, ideally beyond)
* Provide precise, constructive feedback
* Maintain clear and accurate student progress notes
* Communicate professionally with parents and staff
* Uphold high academic and behavioural standards within sessions
Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated experience working with children or young people
* High-level English comprehension
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Confident analytical skills
* Ability to take initiative and work independently
* Confident managing small groups effectively
* Strong organisational skills
Preferred Academic Background
* Strong academic performance in English
* Tertiary study in Education, English, Humanities or related field (desirable)
* Ability to confidently support students up to Year 10 level (Year 11–12 highly regarded)

Position Details
* Casual position (two positions available)
* Afternoon availability required (from 3:00pm during term time)
* Availability on saturdays throughout the day
* Additional hours may be available during school holiday programs
* Competitive hourly rate based on experience and capability
