We are currently seeking an accomplished and passionate Library Manager to lead the Noelene Munns Learning Centre (NMLC) and play a pivotal role in driving optimal student learning through exceptional library services.
This is a full-time contract position (12 months), commencing January ****, offering an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our library services across our Kindy-to-Year 12 community.
The position includes the opportunity to consider contract extension prior to conclusion.
About the Role
Reporting to the Digital and Design Coordinator, the Library Manager ensures the NMLC functions as a vibrant hub of learning and innovation.
The Library Manager supervises Library Learning Assistants and Library Support Staff, working collaboratively with Primary Deans and teaching staff across the College to provide exceptional curriculum support.
The new role requires curating curriculum-aligned resources and fostering a welcoming environment that develops students' confidence, love of literature, and research skills.
Key Responsibilities
Library Operations & Management
Manage all general operations of the library.
Supervise library ancillary staff, including recruitment, professional development, performance management, and scheduling.
Oversee the timely management, procurement, processing and availability of resources.
Maintain and update the library catalogue systems.
Maintain and manage the library budget and financial resources, including purchasing, processing, and expenditure accountability.
Curriculum Support & Resource Management
Collaborate with colleagues to identify and meet curriculum resource needs.
Oversee the selection and curation of appropriate print, visual, and digital resources that reflect current curriculum requirements and support diverse learning needs.
Assist students in locating, evaluating, and selecting materials relevant to their research and learning needs.
Liaise with teaching staff to ensure resource availability supports Units of Inquiry and specific learning area topics.
Exhibit extensive knowledge of literature that reflects the reading interests and abilities of a diverse student population.
Use a variety of strategies to encourage wide and regular reading and enrich the School's reading culture.
Library Events & Community Engagement
Plan and coordinate library-based events and celebrations, including Book Week, author visits, and reading celebration activities.
Collaborate with colleagues and students to ensure complementary services and integrated support for technology-enhanced learning.
Coordinate and promote literature and library-based incursions, excursions, and events for students and the College community.
Support the efficient expenditure of library resources by maintaining equipment, repairing resources where necessary, and recommending replacement materials.
About You
You are an accomplished library management professional with demonstrated expertise in library and information services.
You lead with integrity, passion, and vision, and thrive in a collaborative environment where educational excellence and student wellbeing are paramount.
Qualifications or demonstrated experience in Librarianship or Library Management (highly preferred).
Library management experience with a proven track record of successfully managing library operations, including staff, resources, and budgets.
Experience developing and implementing literacy and information literacy programs.
Proven capacity to lead, motivate, and inspire staff and students.
Extensive knowledge of and engagement with current Australian Curriculum standards.
Strong organisational skills to ensure effective utilisation of staff and resources.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills when liaising with staff, students, and parents/carers.
Strong interpersonal skills for building positive, supportive relationships with students and staff.
Demonstrated innovative practice, creative problem-solving, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the College.
Proficiency in managing budgets, staff, and complex library operations.
Current First Aid certificate, or ability to obtain one.
Current Blue Card / Positive Notice Working with Children check or ability to obtain one.
Ability to undertake the functional requirements of the role.
