About the Project
This role contributes to a significant program of collection storage and logistics activities across the Australian Museum’s sites. The project focuses on improving the organisation, accessibility, and long-term preservation of collection materials through coordinated movements, accurate documentation, and enhanced storage practices.
You will play a hands-on role in supporting the safe relocation and management of valuable scientific and cultural specimens, helping to ensure they are maintained to the highest professional standards and remain accessible for research, exhibition, and future generations.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Assistant Collections Storage & Logistics Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of collection movements and storage across Australian Museum sites.
Working under the direction of the Collections Storage and Logistics Manager, you will provide practical support across collection handling, documentation, and logistics to ensure specimens and objects are safely moved, stored, and tracked in line with professional museum standards.
This role operates across multiple locations including William St and Castle Hill in Sydney, as well as Bathurst and Canowindra. The position may also act as an object courier on behalf of the Museum.
Employment Status:
* Clerk Grade 3/4
* Fixed Term 10 months, with the possibility of extension
* Full-Time
You will be paid a competitive total remuneration package of $96,087 - $105,2015 including an annual salary of $84,659- $92,701, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.

About you
You are a highly organised and detail-oriented professional with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality. You bring strong administrative and coordination skills, along with a proactive and flexible approach to your work. Comfortable working across multiple sites, you can adapt to changing priorities and schedules with ease. You have well-developed communication skills and enjoy working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. You are also willing and able to undertake physical tasks in line with WH&S requirements, including manual handling and working at heights, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and best practice.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience in handling, storing, or caring for objects, specimens, or materials requiring precision and manual dexterity, gained in a museum, archive, natural sciences, cultural heritage, or similar collection environment.
* Demonstrated ability to follow documented procedures, maintain accurate records, and apply WH&S principles in a hands-on operational setting, including safe manual handling practices.
* Holds a current full NSW Driver’s Licence. The role holder must be prepared to travel between the AM’s various sites.
Essential Requirements
* A current Elevated Work Platform (Yellow Card) or willingness to obtain one.
* A current Forklift licence
