Primary objective
Manage all aspects of operational readiness for Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) personnel and cache deployed by the National
Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) while leading the planning activities of AUSMAT and Disaster Preparedness and Response
training and exercises to ensure proper development, scheduling, and support.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead and manage operational activities for the Disaster Preparedness and Response team to ensure readiness for AUSMAT deployments,
training and exercises including management of human resources, manifests, stakeholder communications, briefings, reporting, deployment
packages, personnel releases and approvals.
1. Provide high-level operational and policy advice to the Director Disaster Preparedness and Response on complex issues involving AUSMAT
operations and prepare committee paper submissions, general correspondence, reports and presentations in sensitive and time critical
contexts.
1. Develop and maintain plans, policies, standard operating procedures and technical documentation to manage deployments ensuring adherence
to World Health Organization (WHO) Emergency Medical Team (EMT) standards.
1. Prepare and develop materials and resources for trainings, exercises and deployments managing personnel, cache and planning for AUSMAT
and local emergency management responses and activities.
1. Manage procurement activities related to operational requirements including warehouse and stock control, maintenance, equipment, training,
site management, contractors, and appropriate financial and resource utilisation and reporting.
1. Develop and maintain effective and collaborative strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels including, suppliers,
non-government organisations, Government agencies and AUSMAT jurisdiction partners.
1. Develop policies, plans, procedures and guidelines relevant to workforce management, recruitment, deployments, engagements and exercises.
2. Support the maintenance of the AUSMAT capability Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) and WHO EMT standards including
updates to technical documentation to ensure accreditation and minimum standards are maintained.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Highly developed strategic management skills with an ability to respond to changing situations and circumstances, set priorities, meet
deadlines, demonstrate professional judgement and deliver results through effective resource management.
2. Extensive knowledge and experience in delivery of operational activities providing a high standard of integrity and professionalism in dealing
with confidential information, commitment to service excellence and staff management.
3. Demonstrated experience with disaster and emergency planning, logistics and response arrangements including AUSMAT activation processes
and national plans and strong history of the ability to work under pressure.
4. Highly developed written and verbal communication, analytical, research and report writing skills with the ability to accurately analyse,
synthesize and clearly communicate complex issues in plain language.
5. High-level strategic, conceptual, analytical and collaborative skills, personal integrity and a commitment to confidentiality.
1. Demonstrated experience managing people, services and fiscal matters to deliver high performance within appropriate governance
frameworks.
7. Strongly founded cross-cultural skills, high-level time management and oral and written communication skills with experience operating
effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the NCCTRC programs.
2. Relevant Tertiary qualification in related field, or evidence of working toward.
