We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Recreational Fishing Officer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for collecting recreational fishing information at boat ramps in the Gold Coast region.
This role involves interviewing recreational fishers at boat ramps when they return from fishing trips to collect information about the trip. Fish will need to be identified and measured to the nearest centimetre. Survey shifts at ramps last for four hours.
Key Responsibilities:
* Engage with recreational fishers at boat ramps to collect information about fishing trips
* Identify, count and measure a suite of more than 40 species of fish
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Ability to follow instructions and adhere to sampling protocols
* Record data clearly and accurately
* Reliable and punctual, with good communication skills
* Able to handle some challenging questions from the general public
* Comfortable talking with the general public
* Able to safely climb onto boats
* Able to assess risk and be safe at a boat ramp
* Able to identify commonly caught recreational species and measure them quickly

Position Functional Requirements:
* Ability to climb into boats on trailers and lift fish up to 10kg
