Job Overview
Large national industrial engineering design firm based in Newcastle. Seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide design solutions for Defence projects.
Key Responsibilities
Provide innovative & cost-effective engineering solutions, new approaches & techniques to design and development of new products and problem solving.
Provide concept design, preliminary and detailed design analysis of structural and mechanical products utilising CAD 3D Solid Modelling and CAE FEA software applications.
Provide professional technical report writing and assistance with preparation of tender responses.
Provide manufacturing support including design-for-manufacture reviews and development of manufacturing work instructions.
Conduct formal design review meetings, including preparation of presentation material and provision of meeting agendas and minutes.
Work with multidisciplinary design team and suppliers to deliver practical, innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Additional Duties
Develop and maintain project schedules based on scope of work and key milestones.
Review project costs and schedule against contracted deliverables and budgets and provide status reports and forecasting.
Develop technical specifications/statement of work for outsourcing of specialized engineering and manufacturing services.
Conduct site inspections and measurement including provision of condition reports and as-built manufacturing drawings and associated records.
Liaise with internal/external customers, service providers and networks on a regular basis to maintain healthy relationships, understand their business operations and objectives.
Qualifications
Australian Citizenship.
Experience with CAD 3D Solid Modelling, CAE FEA and conducting design reviews.
Proficient in professional technical report writing.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Experience in coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Salary & Location
Salary guide: $115,000 to $130,000.
Location: Newcastle region.
