Strathmore Secondary College is situated between Pascoe Vale Road and the Moonee Ponds Creek in the northern suburb of Strathmore.
The school was founded in **** and now draws the majority of its approximately 2,000 students from within the designated neighbourhood area bounded by Strathmore Heights, Pascoe Vale and Essendon.
The college employs a total of 290 teaching and non-teaching staff.
Students are placed within one of six school teams vertically structured across Year 7-12 and are supported by core teachers in Faculty Areas.
Junior team leaders and coordinators work closely with Year 7 and 10 students, teachers, and parents to develop positive relationships to support learning.
VCE leaders and team coordinators, supported by a VCE Administration officer and Careers Coordinators, work with Year 11 and 12 students to achieve outstanding results so students reach their desired pathways.

Selection Criteria
SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills, and experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2 Experience in planning for and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact on student growth.
SC3 Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback to students and parents.
SC4 Interpersonal and communication skills, and experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
SC5 Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, and experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to improve teaching quality.
SC6 Ability to teach Food Technology Years 7-12 and one other method Years 7-10.
Role
The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges.
The primary focus is the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge, skills, and student learning.
As teachers gain experience, their contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases.
All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to rostered teaching duties, provided the responsibilities are appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training, and experience.
Responsibilities
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students.
Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school.
Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal.
Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Qualification Requirements
Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
Completion of an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January ****, or a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program as required.
A Victorian ITE graduate after 1 July **** must also have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements.
