Clinical Nurse Consultant (Step-Up Step-Down), Queensland Health

Ready to lead complex mental health care where recovery truly comes to life? Step into a temporary full-time Clinical Nurse Consultant role at Gladstone's Step-Up Step-Down Unit and elevate your clinical impact.

This opportunity is ideal for RNs and CNs with advanced mental health experience wanting to expand their scope. You'll provide specialist assessment, short-term interventions, and recovery-focused support for consumers transitioning out of, or preventing, hospital admission. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams and an NGO partner, you'll exercise high-level autonomy, clinical decision-making, and leadership.


About Us

The Step-Up Step-Down service is a short-term sub-acute residential service (up to 28 days) with recovery focused mental health support to help consumers to transition out of hospital, or to avoid a hospital admission. This residential service is for people from Central Queensland who are experiencing severe mental health issues that make being at home difficult. It is for people who need a place with clinical support, but also the time out to work on their recovery and put in place some plans for living safely in the community.


About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a Registered Nurse who, in partnership with the non-government organisation (NGO) servicing the Step-Up, Step-Down Service and the multi-disciplinary mental health teams of the Central Queensland Hospital Health Service, will provide specialist clinical mental health nursing practice to support the delivery of evidence based mental health interventions to consumers. The role entails the provision of intake, assessment and short term, intensive mental health interventions, admission and discharge planning in collaboration with the appointed NGO.


About You

* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate.
* Eligible practitioners will be required to achieve and maintain Authorised Mental Health Practitioner status and undertake roles and functions in accordance with the Mental Health Act 2016.
* Possession of relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing/education would be well regarded for a position at this level.
* Credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses is desirable.
* Knowledge of current national and state mental health care, including the Mental Health Act 2016 and National Standards for Mental Health Services 1996 is highly desirable.


What We Offer

Total monthly remuneration value of up to $13,684 is comprised of:

* An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
* 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
