Situated on the picturesque Bass Coast waterline, just 15 minutes from Phillip Island and the penguin colony and only 90 minutes out from Melbourne, Maru Koala & Animal Park has been a family owned and operated business since its inception in The predominately native species Animal Park is complimented by the bistro and café areas and a Pirate themed mini-golf course. Maru is a popular destination for both local and international visitors, providing a range of experiences and is accredited with the National Quality Tourism Program and Zoo and Aquarium Association.

Being an integral part of the local and regional community and providing good access for all, in an environmentally sustainable manner are key to the Maru business. With a progressive animal welfare mindset Maru places the highest priority on respectfully showcasing our ambassador animals to provide education and support about the conservation of wildlife and their habitat.

The Domestic Marketing Coordinator is responsible for raising the profile and growth of visitation to Maru through marketing to its target audience across a range of channels, through development of toolkits and mentoring of team members. The role aims to ensure that Maru Koala & Animal Park, is viewed as a leading tourist destination within the Australian tourist market, and also as a major local experience destination.

The Role

* Part-Time, 8-hour shifts, 2 days per week
* Required to work at least one day on site at Maru
* Days Flexible – Hybrid Work Environment

No two days will ever be the same, with ambitious growth plans this is a standalone role in which you will;

* Develop a domestic marketing plan and strategy in conjunction with Senior Management team
* Develop and activate print and online domestic market advertising,
* Develop a social media strategy, guide and train staff in creating appropriate social media posts
* Work in-house on content creation and support shoots, scripts, and coordinate talent
* Work to grow our following on all social media, but Instagram in particular
* Occasional in person marketing and promotion of our products and services to local stakeholders, attend trade shows and be the face of Maru.
* Identify, plan, develop and analyse campaigns across a range of platforms
* Engage with customers on different channels, including responding to reviews
* Manage and maintain marketing calendar aligned to strategic business objectives, and create a program of activities including Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas etc.
* Support in and advise on relevant web site updates, with support from a web designer
* Manage the new Maru customer database that is in its infancy
* Create and send out monthly EDM's
* Liaise with media outlets such as the Herald Sun and TV channels and maintain connections with those associations for the publication of items promoting Maru
* Provide marketing statistics, reports and analyze around customer reach, data driven decisions, customer experience, market trends, industry-specific statistics, consumer preference etc., to Senior Management.

Essential Criteria

The perfect candidate will have;

* Previous experience in a similar role
* Experience using Canva, Microsoft Office Applications, and customer database software
* Basic graphic design skills (catalogues, brochures, newsletters, product artwork and social media designs)
* An understanding and use of SEO and SEM tools
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Be innovative and excited about creating unique marketing content
* Strong knowledge of the existing regional and state marketing bodies and the ability to strengthen Maru's connection
* Driver's license – at least one day a week onsite at Maru will be required and some travel to attend local marketing events may be required
* Willingness to obtain a Police Check
