Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts – Fortitude Valley QLD

Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (APCA) is a not‑for‑profit organization, charity with DGR status and a registered training organisation offering accredited and non‑accredited training in three genres of the performing arts. ACPA's training and mentoring program has supported some of Australia's highly recognised First Nations performing artists like Royston Noell (Winner Australian Idol 2023), Denzel Baker (2019 Young Australian of the Year), Jeremy Ambrum (Cleverman 2016, Secret Daughter 2016), and Tyrel Dulvarie (Bangarra since 2016). ACPA has provided world‑class entertainment for various clients, including "Australia thanks the Matildas", Brisbane River stage, televised nationally on Channel 7, Path to Treaty events, Australian Citizenship events, and welcoming the United States Ambassador to Queensland, Carolyn Kennedy. ACPA's Dance Ensemble performed with William Barton (2023 Queenslander of the Year) at the Asia Pacific Telecommunications Conference and for international delegates attending the world HIV Science Conference in Brisbane. With the 2032 Olympics, Paralympics and Cultural Olympiad on the horizon in Meanjin, ACPA is committed to providing quality training and mentoring to build a bright new generation of First Nations and All Nations performers.


Purpose

Play a key role in assisting ACPA's RTO Manager to achieve outcomes aligned to the strategic plan for 2023‑2029 – Re‑imagine, Re‑connect, Re‑position in a healing and culturally safe manner.

Be ready to work in our newly refurbished, beautiful office located in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.


Key accountabilities and responsibilities

* First point of contact – answering inbound phone calls efficiently, greeting students and clients, supporting arrivals and assisting with administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
* Assist the RTO Manager to monitor and assure accuracy of student files and student surveys by using our organisation's Student Management System (SMS) to maintain student enrolment data and other various tasks.
* Issue certificates and statements of attainment for CEO's endorsement, as guided by the RTO Manager.
* Stock control, ensuring sufficient supplies of all resources required for ACPA's programs, including stationery requirements.
* Assist with workshop/event requirements, including but not limited to correspondence with key personnel, room timetabling, venue hire agreements, catering, student supplies and tasks as directed by RTO Manager.
* Represent and promote ACPA and its products in a positive and professional manner through providing the relevant course and general information to our students, clients, the public and suppliers, utilising strong communication skills.
* General support and participation across the ACPA team and its delivery programs as directed.
* Adherence with all ACPA policies and procedures.


Performance measures

* Achieve key accountabilities and responsibilities within designated timelines to ensure efficient and effective administration operations of ACPA.
* Attention to detail in undertaking and completing routine and ad‑hoc administration activities of the role.
* Positive contribution to the professional activities of ACPA's RTO and Performing Arts business units.


About You

* Valid Working with Children Card (WWC/Blue Card) – essential.
* Minimum two year's experience working in a similar role supporting a Senior Officer within an RTO or similar business.
* Must be reliable and able to work on site each day in a full‑time position.
* Sound administration and time‑management skills.
* Secure written and oral communication skills.
* Highly organised and have strong attention to detail.
* Work effectively as a team member.
* Intermediate skill level – electronic file management, Microsoft 365 skills in Word, Outlook, Excel and presentation software.
* Ability to create, build and maintain strong collaborative relationships at all levels.

Conditions of Employment

* Must be able to work each day on site in our Fortitude Valley office.
* A valid Working with Children Card (Blue Card) will be required to be provided at the time of accepting an interview.
