Responsibilities
* Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness prior to preparation and cooking.
* Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and business standards.
* Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment to ensure proper cooking and food safety compliance.
* Season food during cooking and ensure correct portioning, plating, and garnishing before service.
* Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and monitor stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
* Conduct regular stocktakes, monitor stock levels, and place orders as required.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, including safe food handling and equipment maintenance.
* Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements where required.
* Assist with menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements.
* Train and supervise junior kitchen staff and apprentices in food preparation and hygiene practices.
* Report equipment faults and maintenance requirements to management and ensure safe kitchen operations.
Qualifications
* Preferably 1 year experience as a Cook
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multifaceted kitchen operations
* Attention to detail; maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers
* A versatile and hard-working person with a practical hands-on approach, who strives to achieve the best outcomes at all times.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Good knowledge of policies and procedures in workplace
