Join our dynamic team at Mission Australia as a Child & Family Support Worker in the STAR4Kids Program. In this vital role, you will provide tailored psychological services to children aged 3-12 years, offering face-to-face counselling, conducting thorough assessments, and leading engaging group programs. Your efforts will help foster resilience and enhance the well-being of both children and their caregivers. Bottom of Form Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide a range of therapeutic modalities appropriate to children (aged from 3-12 years) Deliver psycho-social education to parents/carers’ in support of child mental health intervention Schedule and conduct collaborative and client driven counselling session/s with whole families or individuals Collect client and program data and input into designated client information management systems Participate in stakeholder forums as appropriate to support the delivery of the Program Conduct initial risk assessments of families/children. Qualification Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) as a Provisional Psychologist working towards full registration in the 51 internship program, including engagement with an external board approved supervisor. OR Registered Psychologist or Mental Health Occupational Therapist. OR PACFA accredited Counsellor with 2 or more years’ experience OR Mental Health accredited Social Worker registered with AASW Requirements for Success Skills and competence in a range of therapeutic modalities appropriate to children Ability to administer a range of assessments of children experiencing or at risk of developing a mental health disorder (e.g. cognitive-functioning, behavioural, and emotional) Experience in working with families within a systemic practice model Experience in developing effective working relationships with a range of service stakeholders Demonstrated engagement in structured clinical supervision (ongoing) Excellent organizational and time-management skills Capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities A willingness to join a child’s world and not be deterred by matters that are sensitive in nature Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
