About the role: A subsection of the Victoria Police Cybercrime Squad, the Digital Forensic Unit specialise in forensic examination of computers, phones, and other data storage devices. Digital evidence is a key component of almost every investigation into serious criminal offending, and the Digital Forensic Unit plays a vital role in extracting, interpreting, and presenting this evidence. The FO2 Digital Forensic Support Officer will play a vital role to support unit functions by undertaking property/exhibit management, administrative duties, be first point of contact for requests and queries into the Digital Forensic Unit as well as undertake lab audits. The Digital Forensic Unit sits within the Victoria Police Crime & Counter Terrorism Investigation Services and provides Victoria Police with a specialist crime investigation capability involving digital evidence. A vital part of the forensic process is to maintain accurate recording keeping, exhibit and property audits and continuity. The FO2 Digital Forensic Support Officer primary role will be to maintain compliance with legislation, standards and SOPs. Your duties will include: * Managing evidence items in accordance with Cybercrime Squad and Victoria Police policies. * Monitoring and triaging requests for examinations and escalations to the Digital Forensic Unit. * Responding to queries to the Digital Forensic Unit via phone, email or in person. * Assist in Digital Forensic related projects. * Be the first point of contact for the Digital Forensic Unit from internal and external stakeholders. * You may be required to attend crime scenes and secondary locations as part of your duties. * You may be required to give factual evidence in Court. About You: The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience: * Experience in managing exhibits/property and knowledge of chain of custody procedures. * Experience in conducting audits and reviews. * An interest in working in law enforcement and a passion for forensics and IT. * Well-developed written and oral communication skills. * Highly developed attention to detail. * A willingness to participate in office well-being sessions due to the crime theme and child abuse material you may be exposed to.
