About the Role
The Assistant Accountant supports the delivery of financial and accounting services across the University as part of the Group Finance team. Working under the direction of the Senior Finance Manager, the role contributes to month?end processes, financial reporting, budgeting support and general finance activities.
Role responsibilities include:
* Support month?end finance activities, including processing journals, reconciliations and variance analysis.
* Assist with the preparation and distribution of monthly and ad hoc financial and non?financial reports.
* Support budgeting and financial planning activities, including data collection, system updates and analysis.
* Provide general finance support to clients, including advice on requisitioning, receipting, budgeting and research account management.
* Assist with project and grant finance activities, including posting costs, journals and project closure tasks.
* Support financial data integrity, including monitoring income and expenditure and preparing audit working papers.
About You
Skills, attributes and knowledge
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and reporting.
* Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills.
* Sound problem?solving and analytical capability.
* Effective communication and relationship?building skills.
* Strong Excel skills and familiarity with financial or database systems.
* Understanding of financial processes and accounting systems, or ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
Experience
* Experience in financial management or finance administration activities.
* Demonstrated experience in financial analysis and reporting.
* Experience supporting budgeting, financial planning or project finance activities.
* Experience providing financial information or advice to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree and working towards CPA or ACA qualification, or equivalent.
What We Offer
Base Salary Range: $97,332 - $105,385 (HEW6) plus 17% superannuation (pension)
The position is full time and will be made on a continuing basis.
