Directional Drilling & MWD Engineers
NES Fircroft is partnering with leading drilling contractors and oilfield service providers to support upcoming onshore drilling programs across Australia. We are seeking experienced Directional Drilling (DDx) and MWD Engineers to register interest for contract and longer-term opportunities commencing throughout ****.
These roles will support land-based drilling campaigns across conventional and unconventional developments.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver directional drilling and MWD services on onshore drilling rigs
Operate Rotary Steerable Systems (RSS), motors, and directional assemblies in real time
Build, run, and optimise complex directional BHAs to achieve well objectives
Operate MWD and LWD tools in real time, including telemetry systems
Provide formation evaluation support using LWD tools and data interpretation
Monitor and interpret drilling data to support wellbore placement decisions
Work closely with drilling supervisors, wellsite teams, and rig crews
Prepare post-run and post-well reporting in line with client requirements
Maintain strict adherence to HSE standards and operational procedures
Candidate Requirements
Demonstrated experience as a Directional Driller and/or MWD Engineer
Strong hands-on knowledge of RSS, motors, and directional drilling assemblies
Solid experience with MWD telemetry systems and formation evaluation tools
Proficiency using Techlog and Drillplan
Ability to interpret downhole data and make real-time operational decisions
Experience working in onshore drilling environments preferred
Strong communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to high safety and operational standards

Visa sponsorship may be available for suitably qualified international candidates who can demonstrate:
Proven capability to operate RSS, MWD, and LWD tools independently
Strong tools knowledge with minimal supervision required
Willingness to commit to longer-term Australian work scopes
