We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest packaging companies in Australia as our Thomastown site is looking for 2 experienced mechanical fitters to come onboard (on afternoon shift from 3pm until 11pm)! Competitive pay and enormous opportunities for training and development are offered.The key focus of this role will be to:Provide technical support to the Maintenance and Production teamsPerform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime, incl. contribution to routine planned shutdownsMaintain equipment condition and reliability to achieve company safety, production, and quality targetsEnsure compliance with all safety regulations and codesAssist with breakdowns and conduct troubleshooting analysis as requiredRead and understand mechanical and engineering drawingsHave solid knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systemsHave exposure and/or experience with automated production environments, including automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) and roboticsContribute ideas for continuous improvement and assist in the development of job procedures as requiredWe can offer a varied career journey with experiential learning gained from cross-functional and lateral moves. We embrace diversity in all its forms, and we look for curious individuals who thrive in an environment of change.For this role we would ideally like you to have:Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical (Fitting/Machining) or equivalent qualificationsExperience working with Converting-type production lines in a FMCG environment (highly regarded)Machining and basic welding experienceAbility to work overtime hours as requiredExperience using maintenance management systems (e.g. SAP)Knowledge & experience in safe working practices and LOTO processesExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailReliable and self-motivated individual with great work ethicQuick learner with a can-do attitudeAbility to implement cost optimisation strategies within the spare parts management spaceA team player with effective communication (verbal & written) skillsComputer Literacy – experience with Microsoft Office programs and other databasesApplications are open to both internal and external candidates.
