Senior Dementia Advisor Position

The Role

As a Senior Dementia Advisor, you will apply your knowledge to equip families, caregivers, and clinical staff to understand how dementia impacts each individual. You will also develop practical, evidence-based solutions to prevent, minimize, or respond to changes in behavior related to dementia.


Responsibilities

* Client Support: Work closely with families, caregivers, and clinical staff to provide personalized support and guidance on dementia management.
* Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to equip carers and clinicians with the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to behavior changes.
* Report Writing: Synthesize information through observation and written documentation to provide recommendations that are relationship-centered and informed by evidence-based best practice.
* Assessment and Intervention: Conduct assessments to understand the holistic experience of the person and their care network, and develop reports that effect change on the ground and improve quality of life for individuals with dementia.
* Partnerships and Collaboration: Work in partnership with stakeholders to build capability across the home and aged care sectors, contributing to research, projects, and programs that meet the changing needs of the sector.


Requirements

* Dementia Expertise: Possess expert knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with dementia.
* Clinical Experience: Have experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care.
* Communication Skills: Be able to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner, with high-level negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
* Problem-Solving: Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
* Stakeholder Management: Have excellent stakeholder management skills, with a current Australian driver's license and willingness to travel.
* Empathy and Patience: Possess empathy and patience when working with individuals with dementia and their families.
* Relevant Qualification: Hold a relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care, or Mental Health.
