The Australian Signals Directorate is looking for software developers who can work across the full stack to develop ASD’s custom applications. We leverage open source software and best practices, enhanced by our own in-house development to deliver custom applications and capabilities for ASD.
The Role
As a Software Developer, your daily activities could include:
- Full stack development, from front-end user interfaces through to databases, identifying and utilising the most appropriate technologies.
- Facilitating decision making for software design, planning, implementation, and deployment activities.
- Supporting your team’s pipeline automation, cloud native development and dev-ops, in particular taking responsibility for the ongoing support of production capabilities.
- Actively engaging with users, identifying issues and developing new features rapidly to meet mission needs.
- Leading teams through upskilling, including peer programming, leading code reviews, implementing relevant project management practices, providing feedback and mentoring.
- Contributing to technical cohort expertise and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Duties:
- Lead full stack development throughout the design, planning, implementation and deployment lifecycle.
- Drive technical leadership and delivery.
- Engage stakeholders, peers and users to define, and respond to requirements.
- Mentor and grow ASD’s technical capability and expertise.
- Contribute to technical strategy, policy and procedures.

- Ability to develop, test, review and document complex applications.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members on software development.
- Ability to allocate work, set priorities and develop strategies for a small development team.
Base pay range
A$126,857.00/yr - A$143,093.00/yr
