Investigator/Senior Investigator, APS5/6 (EA2025/231)

What You Will Do
- Investigate potential breaches of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (CCA) and related provisions.
- Assess evidence, interview witnesses, brief legal advisers, and prepare updates for the Enforcement Committee and Commission.
- Engage with external stakeholders such as consumers, businesses, and government agencies.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly, both in writing and verbally.
- Apply a working understanding of the CCA and Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or be able to attain it quickly.
- Objectively and strategically assess information and evidence in a timely and efficient manner.
- Identify logical next steps and the most suitable resolution for investigations, including administrative means or court action.
- Obtain or be able to obtain the Certificate IV in Government Investigations qualification (Public Services Package).
- For APS6, deliver outcomes independently on a range of investigations and projects.
About You
- Good understanding of the CCA and ACL, with the ability to acquire knowledge quickly.
- Strategic thinker with strong research, investigative and analytical skills.
- Excellent collaboration, influence, persuasion and communication abilities.
- Ownership, sound judgement and capacity to make decisions under direction.
- Versatile, adaptable, accountability for accurate, timely and quality outcomes.
- Tertiary qualifications in law, economics, commerce or related fields desirable.
- Experience undertaking investigations, preferably leading complex investigations.
- The ability to obtain the Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or have it already).

Salary
APS 5: $89,946 – $95,374 per annum (plus 15.4% superannuation)
APS 6: $99,562 – $111,590 per annum (plus 15.4% superannuation)
