The Role
As an EL 1 Assistant Director:
You will lead a team in the management of Code of Conduct, underperformance, probation and other APS disciplinary matters referred for review.
You will exercise sound decision making and judgement when producing high level evidence based decisions for our cases.
You will have highly developed written communication skills to support evidenced based decision making.
You will provide high quality advice and guidance to senior management, supervisors and employees across the Department.
You will be accountable for accurate completion of your work and your team's work within timeframes and ensuring quality requirements.
You will be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships within and outside Defence.
About our Team
DCP provides advice and guidance on conduct and performance management issues. It manages inquiries into suspected breaches of the APS Code of Conduct; and administers and facilitates the management of poor performance of APS employees in accordance with current legislation, policies, business rules and Agency best practice.
You will be an excellent people manager, who will drive positive behaviour and performance in your team. You will be working in a fast-pace workplace and will need to have strong attention to detail, and an ability to manage several cases of varied complexity at once. You will be able to familiarise yourself and interpret Defence's people policies and strategies, particularly in the APS Code of Conduct and Performance area. You will be an influential communicator, resilient, have sound judgement and a proven track record in collaborating to achieve quality outcomes and a demonstrated understanding of or experience in decision making practices.
