About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, overhaul, and maintenance of mechanical components and mining equipment, with a particular focus on diamond drilling and underground machinery. You will work across both workshop and on-site environments, ensuring equipment is operating at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble and fit components in line with engineering specifications and drawings
* Maintain, service, and overhaul diamond drilling equipment and Sandvik Jumbo machinery
* Diagnose faults and repair hydraulic and mechanical systems
* Perform breakdown support, maintenance, and on-site commissioning
* Interpret schematics, manuals, and technical drawings
* Complete job documentation accurately and within deadlines
* Contribute to continuous improvement across processes and equipment
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
* Assist in mentoring and training junior team members
Safety & Compliance
* Adhere to WHS policies aligned with ISO standards
* Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and incident investigations
* Promote a strong safety-first culture across all operations
About You
* Minimum 2+ years' experience as a Mechanical Fitter (mining/heavy equipment preferred)
* Strong experience as a Diamond Drill Fitter – highly desirable
* Proven exposure to Sandvik Jumbo equipment and hydraulic systems
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
* Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
* Reliable, proactive, and team-oriented
