Sampling & Portfolio Specialist, Oceania (12-Month Contract)
As a Sampling & Portfolio Specialist, you will play an important role in our customer experience. With responsibility for daily sampling activities and providing customers with fast, efficient and quality unboxing experiences. You will also provide support to the portfolio hub and regulatory team.
You will participate in sensory evaluations, maintaining and organising the flavour portfolio library to support the portfolio hub and key customers for successful deliverables. You will provide accurate regulatory documents and assist the team and customers with their enquiries.
You will report directly to the Portfolio & Sampling Manager, Food & Beverage.
Lastly, nothing is worth getting hurt for; all members of the business are expected to be safety leaders. You will always uphold and maintain a safe working environment, especially when handling dangerous goods. Wearing appropriate PPE and following related procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
The Position:
Sampling & Portfolio
* Provide full service sampling to internal and external customers and overseas affiliates, including sending and receiving flavour samples, product application samples, and market products.
* Manage the system for incoming sample requests and prioritise by due date and urgency.
* Safely pack samples according to regulations, especially meeting IATA dangerous goods regulations, and arrange courier dispatch from the collection point at reception.
* Ensure all supporting documentation accompanies samples, including customer experience email with tracking details and regulatory documents, and prepare manufacturers declarations for customs clearance.
* Collect incoming packages and mail from reception and distribute on a daily basis.
* Order & track raw materials and flavour samples from affiliates for lab, customer, or supply chain teams.
* Accurately maintain dispatch information about samples and courier documentation, including providing monthly reports and statistics.
* Ensure that the Flavour Library stock is always kept above agreed minimum levels and ordered from the compounding team as required.
* General housekeeping of the Portfolio & Sampling lab, including the flavour library compactus, DG cabinets, and packaging materials; including ordering consumables, labelling and putting away stock, and discarding expired stock safely.
* Active participation in the self-managed technical hubs, working alongside the team to empower, collaborate, and cross-train to share knowledge with other members of the business.
* Directly contribute to the business, team, and category commercial success and win rate consistently.
* Work in close collaboration with Sales and Marketing, MSCI, Creation, Portfolio, Regulatory, Quality, and other departments to ensure timely, high-quality delivery and seamless project execution.
* Work within the portfolio hub managing and reviewing the Standard Library of Flavours for suitability to support the technical hubs and key customers across the business.
* Occasionally support portfolio and standard library selection for internal and external customer requests.
Regulatory
* Provide regular support to the regulatory team across various tasks.
* Provide customers with accurate, consistent, and reliable regulatory and product information in a timely manner.
* Prepare and amend Symrise technical data sheets, customer questionnaires, AFGC PIF's, and SDS's.
* Ensure all records, including technical specifications, are accurately filed and maintained.
* Provide monthly statistics for preparation of reports.
* Support other regulatory and formula management activities as required.
Additional
* Build strong proficiency in SAP and business processes.
* Keep abreast of legislative changes as they apply to Symrise's sphere of activities and utilise the available systems to meet customer and country-specific requirements.
* Support quality control in daily sensory evaluation of flavours and raw materials as required.
* Highlight problematic situations and work together with the technical team.
* Accept temporary placements in other locations for project or training needs.
* Assist in work coverage when required or if other team members are on leave.
Health & Safety
* As a safety leader, always uphold and maintain a safe working environment, especially while handling dangerous goods.
* Wear appropriate PPE and follow related procedures (i.e. GMP and HACCP) to ensure safety.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Bachelor degree qualification in Food Technology or equivalent.
* Preferred but not essential: at least 5 years experience working in the food industry or related discipline.
* Possess good knowledge of Food Standards Code (FSANZ).
* High attention to detail, organised, and process-driven.
* Proficient in Microsoft Suites.
* A strong team player, independent, driven, and highly agile, accountable, creative, and innovative.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
* Willingness to accept temporary placements in other positions or locations for project/training needs.
* To be physically fit and able to lift and move items up to 5kg regularly on a daily basis with occasional lifting of items up to 15kg.
