About the role
As a Teacher in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) at TAFE Gippsland, you will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their best through engaging, industry-current training and assessment. You will plan, deliver and assess high-quality learning programs aligned to Training Package requirements, while applying innovative teaching practices suited to diverse learner needs. Working closely with the Program Manager Automotive & Engineering and broader teaching and support teams, you will ensure accurate student records, maintain compliance with ASQA and organisational standards, and contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the department. This role also involves maintaining your own vocational currency, supporting student engagement and progression, contributing to course development and promotion, and participating in events and activities that enhance the student experience across TAFE Gippsland.
About you
You are a qualified Mechanical Trade professional with at least five years’ post-apprenticeship experience and a strong desire to share your knowledge with the next generation of tradespeople. You hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) or have a willingness to obtain and have the ability to interpret Training Packages and deliver compliant, high-quality VET programs. You bring sound IT skills, a solid understanding of compliance and quality requirements under the National VET Quality Framework, and the ability to adapt your teaching style to suit a range of learners. With a collaborative, flexible and proactive approach, you work well within a team environment and are committed to maintaining your vocational and professional currency. You are passionate about supporting students, contributing to new initiatives, and promoting TAFE Gippsland within the community and industry.
