About Us

Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health. Our work is delivered through individual service delivery, Population level health promotion programs and capacity building initiates to members of priority populations on priority issues.
Are you passionate about health equity and working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities? We're looking for a Multicultural Health Project Officer to join our team and help ensure accessible, appropriate health services are available for CALD communities across the district.


In this role, you'll work in partnership with health service providers and CALD communities, with a strong focus on new and emerging migrant and refugee populations. You'll lead the development and implementation of evidence based strategies to improve health outcomes, provide timely and accurate advice to service planners and Population Health colleagues, and identify priority health needs and access issues. You'll also support clinical services, management and frontline staff by building strong partnerships and network structures that promote access, equity and safety for CALD patients. Working closely with the Multicultural Health and Priority Populations Team, you'll contribute to innovative partnership projects that build community capacity and health literacy. Your work will help shape culturally appropriate models of service delivery using a quality improvement framework.

What you will bring to the role

* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as health promotion, population health, or education and equivalent demonstrated experience along with experience working with CALD and/or refugee populations.
* Demonstrated experience addressing health disparities, and access and equity issues in people from CALD backgrounds, including sound knowledge of relevant policies, plans and legislation.
* Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy; high level presentation and report writing skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in health, social or behavioural sciences research methodology.
* Demonstrated experience in project management skills, including project planning and evaluation skills.
* Demonstrated experience in community consultation, needs assessment and community development work with CALD communities, including the ability to influence, motivate and mobilise interest, to create change in settings that may be resistant to change.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in designing and delivering training programs for both staff as well as consumer.
* Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
