We are seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist on a Part-time Basis. The successful candidate will bring proven experience in multi practitioner Specialist Health Care, along with a strong commitment to providing high-quality administrative support within a healthcare environment. 
In this role, you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of The Norfolk Centre, occasionally working autonomously. You will follow established high-quality processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of consistent, professional service to patients, doctors, and corporate clients. 
Most importantly, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the medical practice.
Key Responsibilities 
- Greet patients and other callers in a professional and courteous manner
- Answer the telephone promptly and courteously
- Make and change appointments for patients following set procedures
- At all times maintain confidentiality of patient personal and financial information
- Accurately process patient payments via cash, EFTPOS, and direct billing
- Invoice and receipt patients, Medicare and Private Health Funds
- Knowledge of the MBS schedule and correct billing procedures
- Deal with referring doctors, hospital staff, pharmacists etc courteously and helpfully
- Attend to patient enquiries and check and handle internal and external emails
- Fill in the roster when staff is away, on holidays and sick leave
- Maintain the reception, waiting area, toilets and consulting rooms tidy; general cleaning and emptying of bins
- Ensure the accurate storage and retrieval of patient and practice records with appropriate scanning, faxing and filing of all documents
- Report accidents, injuries and illnesses
Qualifications and Experience 
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist within a healthcare environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent spoken and written English with the ability to interact with patients and colleagues in a warm and professional manner
- Professional presentation and attitude
- Reliable with excellent organisational abilities, able to prioritise and maintain attention to detail in a busy environment
- Proficiency in using medical practice management software and standard office software
- Experience with Genie is essential
- A genuine interest in healthcare and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care
- Flexibility to work a casual schedule, including the ability to cover shifts as needed
- Commitment to a long-term role
- Must have Australian work rights and a current Police Clearance to be eligible for this position
Working Hours
This is a part-time, on-site position based in Bendigo. The position will require a minimum of two days per week to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Business hours are 0830 - 1700 Monday to Friday and there is no weekend work. You need to be flexible to cover both short and long term leave as required.
