**About the Role**
We are looking to hire Home Care Disability Support Workers around the Perth Metro for a variety of clients with different levels of care needs. The role of the Disability Support Worker is to work with clients within the NDIS framework, assisting them to achieve their goals and increase their independence and participation within the community. All clients require support in their residential homes with core duties being providing medication, assisting with errands, shopping, appointments and domestic duties. High-care clients will have more intensive needs, the right fit for this role will promote and demonstrate positive behaviours, decision making and assist with daily activites and socialising.
**Preferred Experience**
Our clients work best with staff who are able to keep them engaged, providing them with adequate assistance in keeping their lives full and interactive in waking hours, assisting them with routines, medication and home cleanliness. This position would require Disability Support Workers who are capable of handling challenging behaviours and are adept at assisting the clients with their full attention at all times and redirecting where needed.
Preferred at least 6 months - 1 year experience, and a Cert III or higher in disability or a similar field
- or currently studying in a relevant field.
Key duties include:
- Assisting clients with social outings and appointments, driver's license and own vehicle a must.
- Keeping client's day full and engaged with in home activities or walks, outings to organise shopping, run errands or participate in community access relevant to their culture, interests or needs.
- Providing personal care such as assisted showering, grooming and pad changes.
- Domestic duties such as cleaning, washing and maintaining the home environment.
- Encouraging a healthy diet, assisting with meal preparation, planning and eating.
- Challenging behaviour management and positive behaviour encouragement.
- Medication Administration and assisting with higher medical needs such as diabetes management.
- Assisted manual handling with a variety of hoists.
- Appointment management and liaise with medical professionals.
**Skills & Experience**
- with the assistance and input of their extended care team. They will have the people skills to build and maintain meaningful, lasting relationships with their clients and their close contacts. They will also demonstrate a commitment to being a productive and positive member of the broader home and community team. They will represent themselves in a manner appropriate of somebody who represents the company to all other stakeholders involved in the client's life and the wider community.
As well as the above skills, the Key Requirements include:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and 4x Module Completion
- Manual Handling Certificate within 2 years
- Full First-Aid and yearly CPR Training Certificate
- Proof of working rights - Passport, Visa, Citizenship
- Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Working with Children Check issued in Western Australia.
- Experience with challenging behavior
