The following key tasks are part of this role:
* Perform precision grinding and remove poisonous and corrosive deposits
* Make templates, draw working sketches, consult shop drawings and select materials
* Use calipers, micrometers and gauges to measure worn or defective parts
* Inspect and maintain hand tools and metal-crafting machinery

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
* Must have a high school diploma, GED or GED with 15 college credits
* Mechanical ASVAB requirements
* Knowledge of metal repair and fabrication process
* Completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training
* Must be between the ages of 17 and 39
