Job Description
A banana farmer in the Innisfail area are seeking 3 Full-Time Banana Farm Workers for immediate start in the Innisfail region of North Queensland. These positions are offered on a full-time basis subject to seasonal requirements and performance. Employment Conditions
Employment is in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2022 (MA000028). Successful applicants will commence at Level 1 classification. Upon successful completion of a three-month probation period, employees will progress to Level 2 classification in line with Award provisions.
Work will generally be rostered 5–6 days per week, averaging 38 hours per week, depending on weather and crop requirements. All wages, superannuation and entitlements will be paid in accordance with Australian workplace laws. This work is physically demanding and performed in tropical conditions, including hot and humid weather.
Duties Field Duties May Include:
Harvesting banana bunches De-leafing, stringing and de-suckering banana plants Planting and crop maintenance
Irrigation and general farm labour Other duties as directed by the Team Leader Packing Shed Duties
May Include: Hanging banana bunches De-handing, sorting and packing bananas
Stacking cartons Other shed duties as directed by the Team Leader Applicant Requirements
Applicants must: Be physically fit and capable of full-time manual labour Be reliable, punctual and self-motivated
Be able to work effectively as part of a team Be willing to work in all weather conditions Follow all lawful and reasonable directions from Supervisors or Team Leaders
Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements Follow all workplace policies and procedures Treat all co-workers with respect, regardless of race, culture, gender or background
Previous banana farming experience is desirable but not essential. An Open Driver’s Licence is advantageous but not mandatory.
Own transport is not required. Workplace Conduct & Safety The employer has a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol in the workplace.
