This is a Senior Youth Worker role with Queensland Government based in Townsville City, QLD, AU Queensland Government Role Seniority - senior More about the Senior Youth Worker role at Queensland Government The role of Senior Youth Worker is to provide supervision, support and intervention to young people who are subject to youth justice intervention and support the leadership team in the ongoing management of Youth Workers, including induction, assistance with performance management and adherence to Workplace Health and Safety policies. Mandatory Requirements Drivers' license: it is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold an unrestricted “C” Class driver's licence. Officers are required to drive government vehicles as a part of their day-to-day work. This role is designated as Regulated employment as the position provides support services to children and young people and therefore will require a valid Blue Card to be linked with the organisation prior to starting. Where possible, applicants are required to provide a referee who is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities. Travel While the position is based in Townsville, travel within the region for site visits and to other regional/departmental offices may be required in this role. This may include overnight stays. As Senior Youth Worker, You Will Specifically Provide assistance to the leadership team in ensuring the delivery of high-quality service in accordance with relevant legislative provision, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures and contemporary best practice. Provide assistance to the leadership team to develop weekly work rosters, matching young people subject to youth justice orders, with appropriate youth workers. Negotiate with other Government and community agencies, on behalf of young people, so as to enhance their access to services in accordance with the case plan. Conduct regular audits of Workplace Health and Safety issues in relation to agencies. Ensure that safety equipment is available, and all equipment used in conjunction with the Community Service Order Program is safe to operate. Provide supervision and culturally appropriate individual and family support to young people to assist with their compliance with bail, court orders and reintegration into the community, in accordance with the young person's service response plan. Deliver components of core programs, whilst working alone or in team settings to support and reinforce the Service Response Plans as developed by Youth Justice Caseworkers. Develop and maintain knowledge relevant to the role, and actively participate in appropriate learning and development processes. Maintain records of program attendance and prepare reports to assist case planning and reviews and attend these meetings as required. Participate productively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team involving a range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality casework outcomes. Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
