About the School

HARKE has partnered with a school in Darwin that is focused on developing independent, capable learners through strong academic foundations and innovative teaching practices. The school fosters a collaborative and forward-thinking environment where educators are supported to contribute ideas, lead initiatives, and play an active role in shaping student outcomes. With a clear emphasis on inquiry, literacy, and future-focused learning, staff are encouraged to think beyond traditional classroom boundaries.

About the Position

This is a key position designed for a teacher who wants to influence how students research, think critically, and engage with information.

The Teacher Librarian leads the development of information literacy, research capability, and academic integrity across secondary years. Working alongside teaching staff, this role embeds inquiry-based learning, referencing skills, and digital literacy into everyday classroom practice.

Beyond teaching, this role oversees the development of a contemporary library environment, managing both physical and digital resources, supporting curriculum delivery, and creating a space where students actively engage with reading, research, and independent learning.

This is a visible, whole‐school role suited to an educator who is proactive, collaborative, and motivated to lead meaningful change in how students learn.

Skills and Responsibilities
* Deliver a specialised Years 7–12 library program focused on research, information literacy, and literature
* Ensure student wellbeing and safeguarding practices are embedded across all library and learning environments
* Communicate effectively with staff and students to support research processes, referencing, and resource access
* Collaborate with teachers to embed inquiry, digital literacy, and academic integrity across subject areas

Requirements
* Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain Northern Territory Teacher Registration
* Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia are essential for this role
* Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE's onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements
Why Consider This Role
* Clear salary progression with ~5% increases in July 2026 and July 2027
* Opportunity to lead research, literacy, and inquiry across Years 7–12
* A role with real influence on teaching and learning, not just library management
* Work within a collaborative and forward-thinking secondary team
