Your New Role
Reporting to the CFO, your role is critically important, leading a team of 7-8 including both qualified CA/CPA accountants, and transactional team members across AP, AR, and Payroll. Your success will be defined in the outcomes of leading your team, supporting & developing them, and creating a culture of high performance and engagement.
Beyond your leadership responsibilities, your role will consist of performance reporting, financial compliance, budgeting/forecasting, treasury & banking activities, investment activities, decision support and day to day financial operations. You'll seek out opportunities to continuously improve the finance function, automating tasks where possible (particularly, corporate credit card reimbursement tools), harnessing AI responsibly, and handling systems upgrades.
Your Profile
Having the skills & experience is the easy part, any experienced financial controller could perform the duties, the role is straight forward. What will separate you from others is your past performance in developing staff, engaging and taking them on the journey, getting them promoted into more senior positions, taking on more responsibility, and providing mentorship even when you no longer work together. Your stakeholder engagement skills go beyond your team, you are often invited to have a seat at the table with operational leaders as you break down complex accounting into easily understood and clear messages, helping steer positive business outcomes with finance business partnering, cost analytics, business insights, and providing/creating easy to use and understand budgeting templates.
A passion and dedication to the outdoors and environment are essential for appointment. You can demonstrate volunteer work in the community, walk the walk of environmental responsibility in your own life beyond work, and are passionate about preserving Australia's unique environment.
