ISWA is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School that provides an inclusive, challenging, and supportive environment for students to excel academically and personally. We are a culturally diverse, co-educational, non-denominational school and operate on a northern hemisphere academic calendar. We are seeking a dedicated Primary Learning Support Teacher to join our team. The ability to/experience in teaching English as an Additional Language in lower Secondary is also required.
Purpose of the Role
The Primary Learning Support Teacher is responsible for supporting students who require inclusive education across the Primary Years Programme (PYP). The role involves working closely with the Student Support Team (SST) to remove barriers to learning and to assist classroom teachers in developing strategies, dispositions, and skills that enable students to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide individualised, small group, and in-class support to primary students across the PYP, including literacy and numeracy.
* Collaborate with the Student Support Team and classroom teachers to create inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning strategies tailored to student needs.
* Monitor, track and document student progress, ensuring students receive suitable support, adjustments, and accommodations.
* Foster an inclusive classroom culture that promotes confidence, independence, and self-advocacy in young learners.
* Support the development and implementation of strategies to assist students in overcoming academic and learning challenges.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of the school's inclusive education program, with a focus on early intervention and whole child support.
We are looking for an individual who possesses:
* A bachelor's degree (minimum) in Special Education or a related field.
* Qualifications or experience in teaching English as an Additional Language.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills suitable for engaging with young children, families, and colleagues.
* The ability to work with tact, discretion, and confidentiality.
* Experience with IEPs, LSPs, and screening/testing tools.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to manage documentation and student plans effectively.
* Demonstrated success working in a multicultural environment.
* A collaborative mindset and the ability to plan effectively with colleagues.
* A passion for nurturing positive relationships within the ISWA community and supporting students' holistic development.
It would also be desirable if the individual possesses:
* Experience in one or more IB programmes, particularly PYP.
* Understanding of Universal Design for Learning.
* The ability to communicate in languages other than English.
* Previous international school experience.
