We are currently seeking an Apprentice Boilermaker for the Karratha workshop, to assist and perform tasks such as compile routine inspections and condition reports and develop skills to cut, shape and weld steel to complete repairs on Metso equipment. This is a residential position only.
What you'll do:
- Develop skills to perform repairs, compile routine reports, condition reports and correspondence relevant to jobs.
- Receive feedback, training and mentoring from fellow tradesman
- Keep the workshop supervisor informed of TAFE requirements well in advance
- Inform the supervisor of any absence from TAFE
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives proactively working with the Workshop team.
- Keeps fully abreast with Company manuals, technical publications and bulletins.
- Read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, technical drawings and procedure manuals.
- Working as part of a team to solve practical on the job problems.
- Using the Company’s safety tools to assist in controlling the hazards, which apply to each task the Employee undertakes.
- Speaking up to improve safety.
Who you are:
- You will have a keen interest in metal work and working in a mechanical environment.
- Have an energetic and ‘can do’ attitude to a variety of tasks and skills.
- Ability to adapt to different situations and willingness to learn.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Valuable aptitude for Math and competent computer skills.
- Positive communication skills
- A strong commitment to safety, both personal and safety of others
- Driver’s License (desirable)
- 2nd or 3rd year apprentices are welcome to apply
