The Privacy Manager is accountable for strengthening TMBL's privacy posture by embedding a fit-for-purpose privacy framework across the organisation, including governance, policies, training, reporting and assurance. You will partner with stakeholders to analyse privacy risk scenarios and provide practical, commercial advice, particularly for new technology and AI initiatives. You will lead and support Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), and act as an escalation point for privacy incidents and incident management processes. You will also monitor and support implementation of privacy-related regulatory changes and best practices across TMBL.

Key responsibilities:

* Trusted privacy advisor:
Provide timely, high-quality, risk-based privacy advice on complex matters, including technology change and AI initiatives.
* Privacy Impact Assessments:
Lead and/or support stakeholders to complete PIAs for new projects, products, systems and data uses; ensure outcomes are actioned and tracked.
* Incident management:
Act as an escalation point to assess privacy incidents, coordinate investigation and response, and support regulatory notifications (including notifiable data breaches where applicable).
* Privacy framework uplift:
Operationalise and continuously improve TMBL's privacy framework, driving pragmatic governance, reporting, assurance and continuous compliance.
* Policies, standards and guidance:
Develop/maintain privacy policies, standards, procedures and Regulatory change oversight: Track upcoming privacy regulatory changes, translate obligations into business requirements, and support implementation and uplift activity.
* Privacy-by-design in delivery:
Partner with peers in the Chief Data Office, Product, Information Services including Cyber, Operations, Legal, Compliance and Risk to embed privacy-by-design and strengthen privacy controls in delivery.
* Training & culture:
Design and deliver privacy training and communications to build capability and embed a strong privacy culture.
* Stakeholder management:
Build strong, effective relationships across TMBL; influence decisions with clear written and verbal communication.
* Team capability uplift:
Promote knowledge sharing, process improvement, and (where applicable) coach/mentor junior privacy team members.

About You

* Demonstrated experience in privacy, legal, risk, compliance and/or regulatory roles, including delivering advice, PIAs, policy/standards, and incident response.
* Strong stakeholder management across cross-functional teams (e.g., Legal, Cyber, Compliance, Data Governance, Product, Operations).

Skills and Qualifications:

* Strong understanding of Australian privacy laws/regulation and practical application in business.
* Proven ability to draft and operationalise policies/standards and manage privacy risks and incidents (including notifiable data breaches).
* Excellent written and verbal communication; able to influence and advise at all levels.
* Strong analytical/problem-solving skills; able to identify key drivers and practical solutions.
* Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, output-focused environment.
* Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Law, Finance, Commerce, or similar).
