**About this role**
As a Maintenance Officer at Churches of Christ, you'll play a hands-on role in ensuring that the facility remains safe, functional, and welcoming for residents. Your duties will involve a mix of general repairs, grounds maintenance, and compliance tasks, all contributing to a comfortable living environment.
- **
General Maintenance & Repairs** - Carry out routine repairs, minor installations, and general upkeep tasks to keep the facility in top condition. This may include fixing fixtures, basic plumbing, painting, and minor carpentry work.
- ** Grounds Maintenance** - Maintain outdoor areas by mowing, fertilising, pruning, and removing garden waste. If the site has pets, you may also help with their care.
- ** Preventative Maintenance** - Follow a scheduled maintenance plan to address potential issues before they become problems, ensuring all equipment and infrastructure remain in good working order.
- ** Contractor Support & Supervision** - Assist external contractors when they visit the site and oversee Maintenance Workers or volunteers as directed.
- ** Record-Keeping & Compliance** - Maintain accurate records using the organisation's asset management system and ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards.
- ** Orderly Duties** - Perform additional tasks as needed to support the overall smooth operation of the facility.
**What you can bring to the team**
The ideal Maintenance Officer is a hands-on problem solver with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of responsibility. You're someone who enjoys working independently but also thrives as part of a team, ensuring that aged care residents have a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment to call home.
**To be suitable for the position, ideally you have**:
- Experience in a maintenance or handyman role (minimum 12 months).
- Basic computer skills and ability to manage work priorities.
- Current driver's licence.
- Understanding of Work Health and Safety (or willingness to learn).
- Influenza Vaccinations (or willingness to obtain)
**Desirable**:
- Experience in aged care, community services, or facility maintenance.
