Your role
Homes NSW brings together housing and homelessness services under one roof to deliver more social and affordable housing across the state. Our mission is to break the cycle of homelessness and provide quality public housing for over 262,000 tenants in NSW.
As the Head of Housing Portfolio, you will hold primary accountability for governance, financial performance, and service delivery across a complex, high-impact portfolio within Homes NSW. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic foresight, and the ability to influence policy at the highest levels of government. You will navigate a dynamic stakeholder environment, drive innovation in housing solutions, and ensure the achievement of ambitious social housing targets across NSW.
What you'll do
As the Head of Housing Portfolio, you will:
* Achieve delivery of new social housing and public housing maintenance upgrade program across NSW.
* Manage significant resources, including a $1.2B annual operating budget and asset planning for the Homes NSW property portfolio.
* Oversee all Housing Portfolio operations, including governance, risk, compliance, strategic planning, and performance as a public trading enterprise (the Land and Housing Corporation).
* Drive investment and commercial strategies, including Public Private Partnerships and redevelopment projects, to expand housing capacity and deliver complex social and financial outcomes.
* Forge strategic partnerships and alliances across government, property, and community sectors to deliver sustainable housing solutions and adopt best practices.
* Provide specialised advice to the Homes NSW CEO, Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) Secretary and Ministers, engaging with Treasury, Parliamentary Committees, and key agencies to advance policy and service priorities.
What we're looking for
* Extensive senior executive experience in managing multi-stream housing delivery, preferably including community housing and commercial providers, with a focus on performance and accountability.
* Expertise in driving operational service delivery while shaping strategic business and policy initiatives in social and housing reform.
* Demonstrated experience in building collaborative relationships across government, non-government, and community sectors to achieve strategic objectives.
* Strategic thinking and negotiation skills to identify and secure partnerships, investment opportunities, and innovative solutions for social housing challenges.
* Demonstrated capability in leading strategic workforce management, including coaching and mentoring direct reports to build their leadership capabilities and achieve their potential, while maximising their contribution to achieve organisational goals and outcomes.
