Job Opportunity
The Senior Research Scientist–Climate Change Modeller leads the development and application of climate, ocean and ecosystem modelling frameworks to assess how long-term environmental change influences the frequency and intensity of harmful algal blooms in South Australian waters.
About The Role
The incumbent will be responsible for linking large-scale climate drivers – such as marine heatwaves, ocean circulation, and changing current systems – to ecosystem risk, supporting strategic planning and adaptation across government and industry.
Key Responsibilities
* To develop and apply climate, ocean and ecosystem modelling frameworks to assess the impact of environmental change on harmful algal blooms;
* To link large-scale climate drivers to ecosystem risk and support strategic planning and adaptation;
* To work with government agencies and industry partners to advance the understanding of algal bloom science and management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* A PhD in Marine Science or a related discipline;
* Strong knowledge of climate science, oceanography and environmental modelling;
* Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to non-technical audiences;
* Experience working with government agencies and industry partners.
